Our Goal is Thinking Biblically

The Thinking Well Journey
Thinking Well Podcast launched on April 24th, 2023, with Tom Plemmons and Kyle Reeves of Lake Worth Baptist Church at the helm. Over the course of two years, the two led each episode with a shared purpose: to strengthen the faith of believers and to invite unbelievers to seriously consider the claims of Christ. Throughout that time, they sat down with pastors, church members, and special guests who shared their testimonies of faith and offered thoughtful perspectives on apologetics, doctrine, and current events. In 2025, however, the podcast entered a year-long hiatus as Tom and Kyle turned their focus toward other areas of ministry within the church.
In the spring of 2026, Lake Worth Baptist Church relaunched its publications ministry under a new name, "Hammer and Quill Publications." Around the same time, ministry intern Nick Dykan brought a proposal to Kyle, Tom, and the pastors of LWBC (Zac Hatton and Dan Coffman) to revive Thinking Well in time to coincide with the "Hammer and Quill" unveiling. After several months of preparation, Thinking Well made its return in March of 2026, with Kyle Reeves back as host and Nick Dykan stepping in alongside him as co-host.
Since reuniting, Kyle and Nick have carried on the podcast's original mission: pointing unbelievers toward Christ while encouraging and equipping the Christian believer. At its core, Thinking Well remains as a podcast that challenges its listeners to think biblically and to discover how God's Word speaks with clarity and relevance to the world we live in today.

Senior Host | Kyle Reeves
Kyle Reeves, senior host of the Thinking Well Podcast, was born in 1995 and came to faith in Christ at the age of nine, placing his trust in Him as Lord and Savior before being baptized at Victory Baptist Church in Casa Grande, Arizona. In 2004, Kyle and his family relocated to the DFW area, where he soon joined Lake Worth Baptist Church alongside his parents, a church he has now called home for over two decades.
In his years at LWBC, Kyle has served faithfully in a number of capacities: as a drummer on the Lake Worth Worship Team, as a member of the church's security team, and most recently, in answering God's call to preach. Kyle has been married to his wife, Haley, since September 2020, and together they are raising three daughters: Addison, Amelia, and April.

Junior Host | Nick Dykan
Nick Dykan, junior host of the Thinking Well Podcast, was born in 1999 and came to faith in Christ at the age of twelve, being baptized shortly after and joining Lake Worth Baptist Church, a church he has now called home for nearly fifteen years.
Over the course of his time at LWBC, Nick has invested himself in a wide range of ministries. He played a key role in building the church's media team, served behind the scenes in support of Lake Worth Worship, and since 2018, has devoted himself to taking part in the church's youth department as one of the youth ministers. In 2019, Nick surrendered to the call to preach, and has since been pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Bible Specialization at Veritas Baptist College. In November of 2021, Nick married his wife, Krystal, and the two have continued to serve the Lord faithfully together ever since.

On this episode, Kyle and Tom sit down with another one of the members of the Lake Worth Baptist Church, Pete Madson, officer in the U.S. Navy, as he shared his personal testimony.
As we sat with Pete and listened to how God just continually showed up his life, the recurring phrase we found to be was "But God...". We believe this resonates with most Christians who have been busy serving the Lord, we know it resonated with us. We had a plan... but God. We were expecting this... but God. We were defeated... but God.
Two of the greatest pairings of words in the English language are without a doubt: But God.

EP.38 - The United Methodist Church

May 24, 2024
1 hr 18 min
On this episode, Kyle and Tom discuss the recent position reversal of the United Methodist Church.
Should individuals identifying as members of the LGBTQ community be ordained to preach the gospel? Should they be received as church members? Is there a biblical rebuttal or affirmation of these positions? Have they gotten into the Communion wine over at the UMC? Or is this reversal of conviction the result of a gradual slip that started long ago?
Let's have the conversation!

EP.37 - Apologetics | What is IVF?

May 10, 2024
1 hr 5 min
On this episode, Kyle and Tom sit down with Andrew Coats to discuss the recent rulings in the state of Alabama concerning embryos created via IVF. IVF is a process that has allowed many couples desiring to be parents to fulfill that desire. The technology and science behind it is spectacular. So the question is: Are we approaching it with the right care? Are we taking it as seriously as it deserves with the right regards to responsibility and accountability?
Let’s have the discussion.

Sensitive Content Warning ⚠️Protecting Life with Love and Compassion
On this episode, Kyle and Tom sit down with Ryan Reeves to discuss the topic of abortion and how we as Christians should approach this subject, specifically in regards to how we deal with those who have had abortions, those considering it, and why our society has normalized this atrocity. As Christians we believe that life begins at conception and that all life should be protected as an image bearer of God.
But how can we approach these topics in love and with grace? How do we impact our neighborhood, our communities and be a beacon of hope and godly change that we really need in our culture? How can we show the love of Christ as we are presented with opportunity to defend - or even debate - what we perceive as a biblical truth? How do we share the gospel with those that are in need of forgiveness and reconciliation?

EP.35 - How Should Christians College Prep?
Apr 12, 2024
Apr 12, 2024
1 hr 34 min
College is one of the most defining seasons of a young person's life, and for many Christians, it's where their faith is put to the ultimate test. Kyle and Tom bring in Lake Worth Baptist's own Gracie Dilling to talk about what it's really like to live out your faith in the college world.
In this episode, they explore how parents can better prepare their kids, how students can build on the foundation they've been given, and how Christian young adults can stop just surviving campus life, and start thriving as salt and light in a place that desperately needs it.
Proverbs 22:6 (KJV), “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
